in a semi-circle at the base of each memorial arch
at
the National World War II Memorial are the inscribed
names of events that chronicle, in part, the American
experience
in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. Obviously, these
events do not represent the full extent of U.S. participation
in the war, put they do serve to remind us of the global
nature of that commitment, as indicated on the maps
below.
